How It Works
Synflex contains naproxen sodium, an NSAID that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes. This reduces the production of prostaglandins—chemicals responsible for pain, swelling, fever, and inflammation—providing long-lasting pain relief.

Usage and Safety

Dosage:

  • Adults: 250–500mg twice daily with food. Maximum 1000mg/day.

  • Children: Dose based on weight, only if prescribed by a doctor.
    (Always follow doctor’s or label instructions. Do not exceed recommended dose.)

Side Effects:

  • Common: Heartburn, nausea, stomach pain, dizziness, headache.

  • Serious: Stomach/intestinal bleeding, ulcers, kidney problems, fluid retention, severe allergic reactions.

Drug Interactions:

  • Anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin) – increased bleeding risk

  • Other NSAIDs or corticosteroids – higher risk of stomach ulcers

  • ACE inhibitors/diuretics – reduced kidney function

  • Lithium or methotrexate – may increase toxicity

  • Alcohol – worsens stomach irritation & liver risk

Synflex is used for the treatment of:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis

  • Back pain, muscle pain, sprains

  • Headache, migraine

  • Menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)

  • Post-operative or dental pain

  • Fever and inflammatory conditions


🚫 When Not to Use
Avoid Synflex if you have:

  • Allergy to naproxen or other NSAIDs

  • Active stomach ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Severe liver or kidney disease

  • Heart failure or history of stroke/heart attack

  • Asthma triggered by NSAIDs

  • Pregnancy (especially third trimester)

Precautions

  • Take with meals to reduce stomach irritation

  • Avoid combining with other NSAIDs unless prescribed

  • Monitor liver, kidney, and blood pressure in long-term use

  • Use with caution in elderly patients

  • Consult doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding
