Cipotic-D combines two active ingredients:
Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting DNA replication.
Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces swelling, redness, and inflammation.
Together, they treat bacterial ear infections while relieving pain and inflammation.
Dosage:
Usual dose: 4 drops into the affected ear twice daily for 7 days or as prescribed
Lie down with the affected ear up during application
Do not touch the dropper tip to the ear or any surface
Side Effects:
Temporary stinging or discomfort
Ear itching or irritation
Rare: Rash, dizziness, hypersensitivity
Prolonged use may lead to fungal overgrowth or resistance
Cipotic-D is indicated for:
Acute otitis externa (swimmer’s ear)
Chronic otitis media with tympanostomy tubes
Post-operative ear infections
Bacterial ear infections involving inflammation
Do not use if you have:
Viral or fungal ear infections
Perforated eardrum unless specifically advised
Hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, dexamethasone, or quinolones
Tympanic membrane rupture (unless advised)
For ear use only—do not use in eyes or other body parts
Avoid contamination by not touching dropper tip
Use with caution in children; only under medical supervision
Discontinue if rash or allergic reaction occurs
Warning 1: May cause resistance with long-term or inappropriate use
Warning 2: Avoid use in viral conditions like chickenpox or herpes simplex
