 How It Works

Betnesol-N Drops combine two active agents:

  • Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate is a steroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and swelling in the eyes or ears.

  • Neomycin Sulphate is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that fights bacterial infections by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria.
    Together, they treat infected inflammatory conditions of the eye and ear effectively.

Usage and Safety

Dosage:

  • Eye use: 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) up to 4 times daily

  • Ear use: 2–3 drops into the affected ear 2–3 times daily

  • Follow your doctor’s prescription precisely

  • Do not touch the dropper tip to avoid contamination

Side Effects:

  • Eye/ear irritation, stinging or burning

  • Blurred vision (temporary after application)

  • Long-term use: Risk of increased intraocular pressure (IOP) or secondary infections

  • Rare: Allergic reactions or hearing issues (with prolonged ear use)


 Indication

Betnesol-N Drops are indicated for:

  • Bacterial conjunctivitis (eye infection)

  • Blepharitis (eyelid inflammation)

  • Otitis externa (outer ear infection)

  • Post-surgical or post-injury eye inflammation

  • Other bacterial eye/ear conditions involving inflammation


 When Not to Use

Do not use if you have:

  • Viral or fungal infections of the eye or ear

  • Tuberculosis of the eye

  • Perforated eardrum (for ear use)

  • Hypersensitivity to steroids or aminoglycoside antibiotics

  • Herpes simplex or vaccinia infection in the eye

⚠️ Precautions

  • Do not wear contact lenses during eye treatment

  • Use for short-term only, unless advised for longer duration

  • Avoid contaminating the dropper

  • Use with caution in children or elderly patients

⚠️ Warnings

  • Warning 1: Long-term use can increase eye pressure and cause glaucoma or cataracts

  • Warning 2: May mask symptoms of worsening infection

  • Warning 3: Neomycin may cause hearing damage with prolonged use in the ear
